College Health Centers Providing Students With A “Legal” High

Friday, August 13th, 2010

There are thousands of stories strewn about the internet speaking of the dangers of Xanax. Stories of teenagers blacking out, getting behind the while and killing themselves or someone else. Stories of overdose deaths and pharmacy hold-ups, all having to do with Xanax addiction. Knowing this, some people wonder why then are college health care centers providing Xanax so readily to their students?

This is not an easy question to answer. Xanax is legally prescribed for anxiety, however most people that are abusing the drug take it for the intense high that is provides. Interestingly, those who have a xanax abuse problem do not usually get the drug from dealers or off the internet. They get it prescribed to them from places like college health care centers. If that fails though, most addicts just go home, because in their parent’s medicine cabinet there is usually a bottle of Xanax.

Kids in college are under immense pressure to perfom. They stay up late cramming, they are away from home for the first time in their lives and they are around people they do not know. All of this combined has lead more and more college students to suffer from “anxiety” and seek out Xanax.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a Xanax addiction please enroll in an effective drug rehab. Do not wait until it is too late.

Celebrity Rehab Attempts To Handle Xanax Addiction

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Jeremy London, star of Party of Five, is the latest celebrity to sign up for Dr. Drew’s Celebrity Rehab. London has publicly struggled with an addiction to prescription pain medication and Xanax for some time. Several weeks ago he was involved with a bizarre kidnapping, where he insists that he was forced to consume drugs and alcohol before being let go.

An addiction to a Xanax addiciton, Celebrity rehab will tackle alcoholism, opiates, and maybe even Jance Dickenson’s addiction to plastic surgery.

While it is comendable that these celebrities are seeking help, it has been found that a more intense treatment garners better results. Take Narconon Louisiana, for instance, their long-term, inpatient program boasts a 76% success rate for permanent recovery. They attribute their success to their unique take on addiction. Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead, clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problem drugs and alcohol were a solution to in the first place. Once that problem is isolated and handled clients no longer resort to drugs and alcohol as a way to get through life.

If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a Xanax addiction, or any other substance abuse problem please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for information.

Sometimes The News Does More Harm Than Good

Friday, May 28th, 2010

A recent story, outlining Xanax abuse could have been mistaken for an all points bulletin for where to buy Xanax. Instead of reporting on how to get help for Xanax abuse, the story explained how addicts buy the drug, where to buy it, and when is the best time to purchase the drug.

So, for all those people who need some real information on Xanax abuse and how to stop it, here it is:

Xanax is a benzodiazepine. It is in the same family as Valium, Ambien, Clonipin, and Ativan. It is extremely addictive and it is extremely dangerous to come off of. This is mostly due to the seizures it often creates. There are other serious withdrawals from Xanax, those include, hallucinations, insomnia, paranoia, headaches, vomiting, body aches, depression, vibration-like feelings throughout the body, nerve damage, anger and anxiety. In some extreme cases, people sometimes feel suicidal.

Xanax is abused because it does provide a calming-like feeling for the body, this is mostly due to the fact that its original intention was to handle anxiety in patients.

The only real way to handle a Xanax addiction is to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehab. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a drug abuse problem please call 866-422-4650 for immediate help. Xanax addiction does not have to destroy any more lives.

Is The Web Pushing Xanax?

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

It is bad enough that tens of thousands of people are being prescribed such a dangerous and addictive drug, but now tens of thousands of people are posting links for “cheap xanax” or “no prescription needed for Xanax!” Incredibly, this is allowed even though xanax addiction is creeping up to the number one drug problem in the U.S. In fact, you might as well see ads for crack cocaine and heroin, that is how devastating a xanax addiction can be.

Most search engines will pre-qualify ads before they are posted, however, there are still some getting through. Often times a person becomes addicted to Xanax because it was prescribed to them or because they stumbled across it in someone’s medicine cabinet. Xanax addicts often cite the fact that Xanax is a prescription so they thought it would be safe. These internet ads are just another reason why a person may mistakingly think that Xanax is harmless.

The only real way to handle a Xanax addiction is to enroll in a long term drug and alcohol rehab. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650 for more information.

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

In the last few years the amount of benzo abuse has skyrocketed. According the  White House Office of Drug Policy, illegal use of prescription drugs is now second only to marijuana use. And many are asking, why such an increase? One of the reasons is that addicts now have the help of online pharmacies like Xanax or Klonipin making it clear that nowadays you can buy almost anything on the internet, even benzodiazepines.

A recent study performed by the Department of Health and Human Services States that there are almost 800,000 of these online pharmacies in operation making the purchase of illegal prescription drugs easily accessible to anyone that knows how to operate a computer.

“I used to pride myself on my ability to communicate with my children, and I always thought that I knew what they were doing.” says Sharon Lewis, a mother who recently found that her son was abusing Xanax he purchased off the internet. “When he finally broke down and told me about his addiction, I was devastated.” explains Sharon.

“I had millions of questions, one of them being, where did he get all these pills? When I found out that he was buying them over the internet I was furious. I felt like my home had been invaded by drug dealers,” she says. Determined to solve the problem, Sharon began researching different drug rehabilitation programs. “I knew that he could not beat this addiction on his own. I did not was to chance relapse.”

Eventually Sharon came across a drug and alcohol rehab called Narconon Louisiana. Narconon Louisiana is located just outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
